absolutely disgusting

Posted by outandaboutinportland on 10/24/2009

Like another reviewer, we decided to try this place before a movie. I ordered the so-called "healthier" garlic mahi, my husband ordered the chicken katsu with curry, and my kids split the "healthier" BBQ chicken. When we got our meals, I was absolutely drop-jawed at the mahi-mahi in mine . There were 3 paper-thin deep-fried slices of fish -- they must have been sliced with a very sharp knife when the fish was partly frozen -- I kid you not, the pieces were about 2 millimeters thick -- and absolutely oozing grease. I chanced a little nibble and felt like I had just eaten a spoonful of Crisco. Yecch. The salad was a bunch of iceberg with a few cuke and carrot slices; the dressing was mostly oil. The brown rice was edible. The "curry" chicken katsu was mostly fried breading. Neither my husband nor I could taste even the slightest hint of curry in the sauce. The BBQ chicken was at least marginally edible so at least the kids got to eat. We tried the "BBQ" sauce as a condiment -- it tasted like sugar, salt, and a weird highly processed taste. Again, yecch. Never, never again. I suggest you try Hapa Grill on Teal in Beaverton -- it's infinitely better.

CONVICTED S@X OFFENDER CAPTURED AT KAUAI ISLAND GRILL

Posted by Gburgerman on 2/9/2009

I couldn't believe it. Here I am sitting down at my favorite restaurant and reading this in the Oregonian, when I noticed that the cook there wasn't the same old guy, but a new guy. Now I know. Beaverton police said the head cook of the Kauai Island Grill, was arrested early Tuesday at a local restaurant where he was working as a cook. He had four arrest warrrants issued in Washington County for failure to register as a s@x offender. Based on information from Oregon s@x offender registry, the man was convicted in May 2008 on second-degree s@xual assault of a child. Well this will be my last time here. So I am giving this place a one star and taking my business somewhere elso. Detectives said the investigation revealed that the man had an account on an Internet site.

Best ever!

I love this place. It's just like the L&L's in Hawaii, as it should be. Prices are great and the food is always good. Mac salad is bomb status. Don't eat here if you are a health nut...it is ONO greaseville. My kids love it too.

Horrible food

Posted by elasticwaistband on 4/29/2008

Before going to see a movie, we decided to stop by and have some food because I was starving. What was on the menu as BBQ ribs, were just pieced of riblets, without much meat, deep fried. DEEP FRIED! It was disgusting! I am not kidding you. How can they say it was barbecued when it was deep fried and poorly at that? The old fried fat was just dripping, the rice was stale. After initial taste, I just couldn't eat it. Decided to risk it with a movie theater hot dog instead.
